Scientific Employee (m/f/d)
incl. in the project "AI-based Data Management"
(Full-time, salary according to E13 TV-L)
initially limited to 2 years with the prospect of extension.
The University of Bamberg has a strong focus on artificial intelligence with eight core AI professorships, including initiatives such as the Bamberg Center for Artificial Intelligence (BaCAI). Numerous other AI-related professorships are connected via the Hightech Agenda Bayern, with a total of 30 professorships in the field of computer science.
The Multimodal Intelligent Interaction group performs research in the field of multimodal interaction and intelligent systems. The focus is on cognitive systems with a combination of symbolic and sub-symbolic AI approaches, machine learning methods, knowledge representation, multimodal interaction, and advanced systems engineering. Application areas include the intelligent robot systems, socio-technical assistance systems, and digital heritage technologies.
The aim of the specific project is is the design of a system for the collection, organization, analysis and use of information and data with the help of artificial intelligence methods. Applications for this originate from the domains of building preservation and industrial automation
Your Role:
- Work on the project "AI-based Data Management"
- Independent scientific work on a research topic
- Participation in research and teaching at the chair
- Presentation of research results at international conferences and publication in internationally recognized journals
- Participation in teaching courses (2.5 SWS), supervision of seminar papers and theses
- Participation in the preparation of project proposals for follow-up financing
- Scientific qualification as part of a project-related doctoral degree
Your Profile:
- Good completed university degree (Master or equivalent) in computer science or a closely related field
- Excellent knowledge and experience in artificial intelligence, semantic knowledge representation, machine learning, or related areas
- Very good programming skills and experience in modeling and programming of AI systems, e.g., C++, Java, Python, Protégé, Semantic Web, PyTorch, Keras
- Passion for scientific work and interest in a doctorate
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary research
- Strong ability to work analytically, conceptually and independently as well as good communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to teach in German and in English is required
