Fees for applications from non-EU states
Starting winter semester 2026/27, the University of Bamberg will charge a processing fee of 60 euros per application for applicants from non-EU states.
If a person submits multiple applications for the same semester, the application fee is charged only once.
Any application submitted via the university portal will only be processed if proof of payment has been uploaded and the payment can be clearly linked to the applicant.

Do you hold citizenship of a member state of the European Union or a signatory state of the Agreement on the European Economic Area?

No. The fee is charged to cover the additional administrative costs involved in processing applications from non-EU countries. It must therefore be paid by all applicants concerned.
Applicants with dual EU/EEA citizenship are exempt from the fee.
The application fee applies to all Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, programmes leading to the State Examination as well as the German course for study purposes.
No application fees are payable for:
- Joint degrees and double degrees (Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes)
- Doctoral students
- Exchange students
- Continuing education programmes (Weiterbildungsstudieng?nge: Virtueller Weiterbildungsstudiengang Wirtschaftsinformatik - VAWi, M.Sc. Steuerberatung)
How to pay the fee
Payment of the fee is part of the application process. Your obligation to pay is determined based on the information you provide on the university portal, and you will be prompted to pay there if your application is subject to a fee.
Payment is made via ePayBayern. There, you can use MasterCard, Visa or PayPal as payment methods.
Please note: We are unable to accept direct debit payments. Please therefore use one of the options listed above.
Once you have completed payment of the application fee via ePayBayern, a receipt will be issued to you there. Please download it and upload the invoice to the university portal when prompted to do so during the application process.
The fee invoice will be available at the end of the application process.
Payment via PayPal or credit card (Visa/Mastercard) is accepted.

Yes, non-European payment methods are also accepted.
However, the fee will be charged in euros. If you have any questions regarding the exchange rate or any conversion fees that may apply, please contact the payment provider you are using (e.g. PayPal, credit card provider).
No, you must be the account holder for the payment method used (e.g. PayPal, credit card) so that we can identify your payment. The payment method must therefore be registered in your name.
The application fee is due when you submit your application in the university portal.
It takes approximately 3–4 days for the University of Bamberg to receive the payment after it has been successfully completed via ePayBayern.

Repeated applications and special cases
No. Applications for changing degree programmes are exempt from the fee.
Yes, even if you have already been granted admission for the application semester but will not be starting your degree until a later semester, you will be required to pay the fee again for your reapplication/deferral.
