A Research Getaway at the Imperial College London

The xAILab Bamberg recently took a trip to London for a symposium hosted by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Kainz, head of the Borderless AI group, which spans both Imperial College London and FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg to promote research collaborations.

A Seamless Blend of Research and Socializing

The two-day symposium (Sept 30 - Oct 1) packed in 17 research and introductory talks, delivered by PhD students from the various participating groups. But it wasn’t all just academic presentations—the symposium also had plenty of social activities, making it a perfect balance between science and networking.

Jonas Alle, a PhD student from our xAILab, kicked things off with an introductory talk, where he shared his past research experiences and current projects. Following him, Francesco Di Salvo took the stage to present his work on "Privacy-aware and Robust Medical Image Analysis," highlighting some of the research he's published during the first year of his PhD.

The symposium was a great success, emphasizing the importance of cross-institutional collaboration and providing fresh insights into cutting-edge topics like computer vision and medical image analysis.

All in all, it was a productive and engaging trip, full of both academic inspiration and new connections.
