Excursion to Würth Industry Service in Bad Mergentheim

In November 2025, 27 bachelor's and master's students visited the headquarters of Würth Industry Service GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Mergentheim. Würth Industry Service is a trading company specializing in logistics services, assembly and fastening technology. After a two-hour travel, the students were warmly welcomed by Monja Melzer and given a brief overview of the factory premises. This was followed by two presentations.

First, Armin Rother, Head of Exhibitions at Würth Industry Service, provided exciting insights into the history, philosophy, and corporate profile of Würth Industrie Service. This gave the students an initial overview of the organization’s strategy, economic situation, and structure.

This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Alexander H?fner, Head of Human Resources Development. Right at the start of his presentation, Dr. H?fner encouraged the students to ask a lot of questions. The students were particularly interested in the areas of responsibility of industrial and organizational psychologists at Würth Industry Service, conflict management, and management training. Dr. H?fner then provided exciting insights into specific projects and future challenges facing his department. Finally, Dr. H?fner presented a draft of the new performance management model and asked the students for their feedback. The active discussion among the students led to contributions that Dr. H?fner received with openness, enthusiasm, and appreciation. The discussion about the performance management model clearly demonstrated how relevant the content of the industrial and organizational psychology program can be in practice.

We would like to thank Leonie Weckesser and Monja Melzer for their planning and hospitality, as well as speakers Armin Rother and Dr. Alexander H?fner. The excursion was a great opportunity to learn about the everyday work of psychologists at Würth Industry Service.
