Modules within the Master’s Degree
In order to prepare our students as well as possible for research and practice-related challenges in supply chain management (SCM), we recommend a structured enrolment in our courses in three consecutive phases:
1. Foundations:
In the first step, the courses Internet of Things at Supply Chain Management I & II, Data Science for Supply Chain Management and Management of Logistics Services in the Supply Chain teach the central fundamentals of SCM. These contents form the technical foundation for understanding and analysing complex relationships in digitalised value networks.
2. Deepening:
In the Digital Transformation of Value Creation Systems course, students gain a deeper understanding of digital transformation processes in industrial systems.
3. Application and preparation for master thesis:
Scientific methods are applied in the Product and Service Innovations in SCM seminar. The focus here is on structured literature research (SLR), the systematic development of scientific questions and group work. The content and methodological knowledge can be further consolidated in the Project Workshop for the Design of Information
Services in the Digital World. Working on realistic problems in a team enables students to apply their research results directly in a practical setting.
These project and seminar results also serve as a solid starting point for the master's thesis: those who make targeted use of both courses can already draw on developed ideas, concepts and data sets, thus simplifying the familiarisation process and enabling them to generate more in-depth results (which can also be published afterwards).
Please also pay attention to Examination Board notices, particularly regarding composition of the various work modules.
