Dr. Aidan Combs
I am a computational sociologist interested in how the connotations of labels we use for people, behaviors, and emotions work in social interaction. I am particularly interested in variation and uncertainty in connotations and their effects on interactional outcomes like social influence. My work often involves developing new methods for measurement and data collection. I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from Duke University in 2024. In August 2025, I will be joining The Ohio State University Department of Sociology as an assistant professor.
