Completion of the DiKuLe and VoLL-KI projects: Transfer of the study assistant Baula to the new BaKuLe project

At the end of the year, the two projects VoLL-KI and DiKuLe, which our chair was involved in, will come to an end. In both projects, we focused on how students can be supported in their short-term timetable and long-term study planning with the help of a digital study assistant. Michaela Ochs (VoLL-KI), Tobias Hirmer (DiKuLe), and Andreas Henrich (subproject manager) not only designed and piloted the desired support system with the digital study assistant Baula during the three-year project period, but have also been using it productively for new students at the WIAI faculty in cooperation with the WIAI student council since the 2025 summer semester. In addition to software development, research in this area has also been advanced: 10 publications and over 20 theses have been produced in the course of the two projects related to the research area of digital study assistance.

With the end of the two projects, Michaela Ochs is also leaving our chair. We would like to thank her very much for her work and her always collegial and inspiring collaboration. As a small farewell gift, Baula received a design update from her, including a new logo and promo video (see below)!

Tobias Hirmer is continuing his work as part of the BaKuLe project. In this project, we are focusing more closely on personalizing study planning and want to investigate how students can be empowered to pursue goal-oriented studies.
