Structure and Curriculum

The master's program “International Information Systems Management” consists of six module groups.

The contents of the individual module groups are briefly presented below. Detailed information on courses and modules within the module groups can be found in the module handbook for the course (see section Regulations and Documents).


The module group focusses on international IS management. There is a high degree of freedom in the choice ofindividual courses, so that individual specialisations canbe set according to interest or career aspirations,e.g: IT Business Value, Managing Digital Innovation, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Digital Change Management, Electronic Human Resource Management, International Outsourcing Management.

The courses in this module group deepen fundamental knowledge of business informatics and information systems. There is a high degree of freedom in the choice of individual courses within the module group, so that modules from the specialised group can be chosen according to individual preferences.

This module group comprises various elective modules from the Business Administration and Economics department for further individual specialisation.

Two master’s seminars are attended as part of the course. Here specific questions of various sub-areas of the management of international information systems are expanded and discussed.

As part of the Master's degree programme, a compulsory internship must be completed in the IT organisation of a company or another institution with an international focus. The results of the activities are presented in an internship report. Furthermore, achievements at a university abroad or in the field of foreign business languages can be included, examples are Business English, Business French, Business Italian, Business Spanish, Business Russian.

As part of the Master's thesis, a topic from the field of International Information Systems Management is worked on independently using scientific methods over a period of 6 months. The Master's thesis must be defended orally.
