Qualification goals of the M.Sc. Computing in the Humanities
After completing their studies, students have achieved the following qualification goals.
Graduates
- are proficient in methods and procedures in computer science and applied computer science. They are able to compare and evaluate these methods and procedures according to scientific criteria.
- can apply IT methods to issues related to the humanities, cultural or social sciences, especially to those from their qualifying bachelor's degree.
- have shown in their thesis that they can analyse a possibly incompletely defined problem and specify a research question for which they design, implement, and evaluate a solution using scientific methods.
- have demonstrated in practical exercises and projects that they master programming and software development techniques and can use them appropriately in the context of the application.
- can mediate between the technical and IT perspectives, especially in the case of application problems in the humanities, cultural and social sciences
- have developed a professional self-image. They are familiar with the special requirements for IT activities in the digital humanities as well as the general requirements for activities in other application areas.
- have dealt with team-oriented methods to solve IT problems in exercises and projects. They can reflect on their role in the team and their contributions to team performance.
- can familiarize themselves with new tasks systematically and in a short time.
- can apply and deepen their IT knowledge responsibly, considering social and economic requirements.
