Application and Enrolment
To gain admission to the MA Art History, you are expected to have successfully completed an undergraduate degree with final mark of at least 2.5 or an equivalent qualification – ideally in art history, art theory or visual studies.
Bamberg is the only university in Germany where students may choose the master’s programme in Art History even if they completed their undergraduate coursework in a different subject. If that applies to you, you are welcome to enrol in the so-called non-consecutive master’s degree programme.
In addition, the following language skills are required:
- Proficiency in English (minimum level B2) and
- Proficiency in another modern foreign language (minimum level B1) or in Latin.
Whether or not equivalent language skills acquired in a different manner are acceptable for admission is determined by the Examining Board based on the recommendation of an instructor in that language or the relevant subject advisor at the University of Bamberg.
The degree programme may be started in the summer or the winter semester.
For detailed information on how to apply, see the website of the Academic Registrar’s Office.
