Profile of Research
Research in Islamic Art and Archaeology at the University of Bamberg has a particular focus on architecture and architectural decoration in the heartlands of the Islamic World. This is complemented with an interdisciplinary link bridging art history, archaeology and other fields of cultural history regarding several periods and areas of the Islamic ‘middle ages’ and ‘early modern period’. Third-party funding has been acquired for research projects concerning field research in archaeology and architecture, but also research on other problems in Islamic Art and Archaeology.
