The conservation science laboratory at the KDWT is now also accessible via a ramp. Many thanks to the university administration team for making this possible. 
 

The XXXI International Colloquium of the Corpus Vitrearum and the XII International Forum for the Conservation and Technology of Historic Stained Glass took place in Erfurt from 15 July to 19 July 2024. The Chair of Restoration Science was represented with the contribution "Documenting with shadows: On the visualisation of production features in stained glass windows". Leander Pallas monitoring in the university auditorium. For several years now, the Professorship for Materials and Preservation Science has been recording sample areas of the wall paintings at irregular intervals and comparing the data virtually. In this way, changes can be documented. 
 

Once again this year, Prof. Dr. Merzenich from the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences offered a fresco course in which students could become active themselves.
 

Our colleague Martina Pristl was working with the mobile XRF at a rather unusual location.
 

Non-destructive/minimally invasive testing methods can take up a lot of space in the vehicle. Shown here:

- Terrestrial laser scanner
- Multispectral camera and lamps
- Active thermography camera and excitation unit
 

The ageing tests on mock-ups of historical materials will continue in 2024. More on this at the final event of the research project "Development and exemplary application of an 'in situ' humidification method with monitoring concept using the example of an anthropogenically damaged large-format wooden panel painting" on 14/15 March 2024 in Freising.
