Professorship of Digital History
The Professorship of Digital History teaches the fundamentals of historical informatics, digital source criticism and the development, application and interpretation of digital historical research methods and techniques to aspiring historians. Teaching focuses on practical applications, while also reflecting the effects of the digital turn on historical practice. Research is concerned with the development and application of digital methods for recording, processing and interpretation of historical primary material of a serial nature, especially concerning the history of trade, traffic and transport in pre-industrial times. Research and teaching are closely interlinked in Digital History. Students actively participate in collaborative research projects that are designed for practice-oriented teaching.
