Help for students who are refugees from Ukraine
The University of Bamberg is helping Ukrainian students who have had to leave Ukraine and are currently unable to continue their studies there due to the war. At the University of Bamberg, they are to given the opportunity to enroll for the summer semester 2025. Currently, most of the teaching takes place face-to-face in the lecture halls on site (not online).
Who can study at the University of Bamberg?
All students who are currently enrolled at a Ukrainian university and now come to Bamberg as refugees.
Please note that we have to prove the eligibility for your potential regular studies at the University of Bamberg. If your major at the Ukrainian University does not correspond with the ones offered at the University of Bamberg, you cannot participate in this special programme for Ukrainian refugee students.
Which documents do you need for a successful application?
We require the following documents submitted to us in paper form (NOT via email!):
- Completed & signed Application for Admission Part 1 (signed printout of pdf-document)
- Completed Application for Admission Part 2 (printout of e-mail)
- Curriculum vitae (without gaps up to and including the date of application)
- Proof of registration as a refugee and of accommodation in the Bamberg region OR your current residence permit card ¨C as a simple copy
- Travel passport or identity card (only the details of name & date of birth) ¨C as a simple copy
- School leaving certificate ¨C as an officially certified copy of both original and translation (!)
- List of grades of the school leaving certificate ¨C as an officially certified copy of both original and translation (!)
- Transcript of Records for all semesters of study - as an officially certified copy of both original and translation (!)
- German language proficiency certificate ¨C at least B1 level
The following German certificates will be accepted for an application to the German intensive course within the special programme for Ukrainian refugee students:

If you have already completed your studies abroad:
- University degree certificate (e.g. Bachelor's degree certificate) - as an officially certified copy of both original and translation (!)
Documents in English or German do not have to be translated. Documents in other languages must be translated into German (or English) and the translations must be officially certified by the notary or Consulate/Embassy of your country here in Germany.
When is the deadline to submit the documents?
- 15th November 2024 - 15th January 2025 for the summer semester 2025
How can you enroll?
Once you have submitted all the required documents listed above and we have completed processing them, you will receive your admission to study at the University of Bamberg in the summer semester 2025. This admission letter will enable you to enroll at the University of Bamberg for the specified semester.
To complete your enrollment, you will need to transfer the semester fee of €118.60. Detailed instructions regarding the enrollment process will be included in the email accompanying your admission letter.
Which courses can I take at the University of Bamberg?
With your admission to the University of Bamberg, you can basically take all the courses offered for which you meet the subject-related requirements and have sufficient language skills. In addition, the Language Center of the university offers German courses from the beginner level upwards.
