The Student Board strengthens the SAS community by connecting students, faculty, and external partners, while shaping the program environment. Its mission is to represent the student perspective, support program activities, and contribute to a vibrant and engaged SAS community.
Student Board members are ambassadors of the program and are therefore required to show a high degree of commitment, engagement, and leadership that goes beyond the classroom. Members are appointed by the SAS program directors.
Through their board membership, students demonstrate their:
- Hands-on mentality: Moving from ideas to action by actively supporting and implementing activities within the SAS community.
- Organization and project management skills: Helping coordinate events and initiatives such as the SAS Lunch or the SAS Forum.
- Communication and relationship building capabilities: Articulating student perspectives and facilitating dialogue between students, faculty, and external stakeholders through the SAS Partner Network.
These competencies make them not only a cornerstone of the SAS program but also demonstrate their potential as future professionals in organizations striving for leadership in strategy and sustainability.
How can you join the SAS Student Board?
Members of the Student Board are appointed by the SAS program directors. Students who are interested in contributing to the Board are encouraged to express their interest. Selection considers both active contribution to the SAS community and academic performance.
How is the SAS Student Board organized?
Each semester, two students are appointed to the SAS Student Board. Membership lasts one year (two semesters). The board experience consists of two phases:
- Active phase (first semester): Board members independently develop and implement projects and initiatives for the SAS community.
- Mentoring phase (second semester): Board members support the projects of newly appointed members and contribute to the selection of their successors.
