// DISSERTATION PROJECT
“The effect of increases in retirement age on social inequality”
Abstract: This research project examines the connection between retirement and health. The first focus lies in developing a better understanding of the retirement transition from a micro-level perspective. Specifically, it investigates how health, in combination with other factors such as socioeconomic position, influences the retirement decision. In turn, it explores how retirement affects well-being and health after retirement, and how these effects vary across different groups. By incorporating stratifying factors such as socioeconomic position, the study seeks to explain inconsistencies in previous research findings.
The second focus shifts to the macro level, comparing outcomes across countries and welfare regimes. Particular attention is paid to the effects of increasing statutory retirement ages on the health and well-being of different socioeconomic groups to assess how social policy responses to demographic change influence social inequality.
