Part-time Studies
Since the 2011/12 winter semester, the Bachelor of Arts in English and American Studies has been available as a part-time as well as full-time programme.
Studying on a part-time basis is particularly helpful for students with children, working students and students with disabilities or chronic illnesses, as the extended study period reduces the workload during the semester.
When studied part time, the bachelor's degree course takes 12 semesters instead of 6 semesters. The master’s degree courses take 6 or 8 semesters instead of 3 or 4 semesters.
You do not need to provide any reasons to enrol in a part-time programme. You may also switch from a full-time model to a part-time model during any semester’s enrolment period. This reduces the workload in each semester by half.
Part-time courses are governed by the part-time study regulations (Ordnung für das Teilzeitstudium).
