The first Muslim Congress of Albania gathered in 1923, has been the most important step in the consolidation of the Muslim community of Albania after its independence. Moreover, it played a significant role not only for the religious life of Muslims, but also for the national unity and prosperity of all Albanian people, regardless of their faith. One of the greatest decisions of this Congress was the formation of the Muslim Community of Albania (MCA), an institution which aimed to unite and represent all Muslim Albanians. Other organisms such as educational institutions and periodical publications were also established in function of the MCA. However, this important event for the religious, social and political life of Albania hasn't been given the deserved attention. A lack of studies in this regard has motivated me to undertake this research with the aim of analysing the long journey of the Muslim Community of Albania with all its challenges, obstacles, and achievements through 100 years since its foundation.
